See our New K-Laser in action!
Question: What is Therapeutic Laser Therapy? What types of conditions can be helped?
Answer: Our laser is a Class IV therapeutic K-Laser - a powerful laser unlike the extremely weak Class IIIb lasers used by most chiropractors. The difference in power between Class IIIb and Class IV lasers is very significant - Class IIIb lasers are very weak (less than .5W) and even with clusters of light sources have minimal power. Our Class IV K-Laser has up to 12W of power and can perform in minutes what may take hundreds of hours, or be impossible, with a weak laser. Therapeutic Laser Therapy is an emerging treatment technology utilizing light or photon energy to penetrate deep below the skin surface causing an increase in cellular metabolism with no tissue damage. It is used to treat a variety of painful and inflammed conditions of the soft tissues and joints such as carpal tunnel syndrome, frozen shoulder, rotator cuff injuries, plantar fasciitis, arthritis, tendonitis, failed back surgery, muscle injuries and trigger points, neck and back pain, burns and cuts, arthritic knees and other joints, sinus problems, fibromyalgia, headaches and migraines, and sports injuries. We are also treat patients with fusions, metal implants, and joint replacements.

Question: How do Class IV Therapeutic Lasers work?
Answer: When the laser light is absorbed by the soft tissues, it triggers biological reactions in the cells. Chemical substances are produced, released and carried by the blood and lymphatic flow to other regions. In this way the effects of laser may achieve not only local effects but systemic effects. Some of the specific physiological effects include: reduction in pain by causing production of natural pain killers (endorphins); reduction in inflammation by suppressing inflammatory enzymes that create swelling, redness and heat; enhanced lymphatic drainage which increases circulation and speeds healing response; release of tight muscles that create pain, joint problems, and reduced mobility; faster bone repair by stimulating fibroblastic and osteoblastic proliferation. Lasers accelerate tissue repair and growth, improve nerve function, and reduce inflammation and scar tissue formation.
Question: Will I feel anything? Is it safe?
Answer: The treatment is painless with a mild warming sensation. The therapy is very safe with the only contraindication being use directly in the eye, the thyroid gland, over pacemakers, and over the pregnant uterus.
|
Question: How long do treatments take? How many treatments are needed?
Answer: Using our powerful Class IV K- Laser treatments generally will take only 15 minutes or so including pre and post procedures. The number of treatment required vary depending upon the problem, but generally 6-8 treatments over 2-3 weeks is common.
Question: Will I notice immediate improvement?
Answer: Some patients do notice improvement even with their first treatment, however this is not the rule. The effects of laser therapy are cummulative with the beneficial affects building session to session.
